DEMOCRATIC PARTY FUNDRAISING DINNER and RAFFLE
The Stevens County Democratic Party is holding a fund-raising Dinner at the American Legion in Chewelah
(just south of the light) on Sat. Oct. 25. Social Hour is at 6:00 followed by dinner with a choice of
Steak or Chicken beginning at 7:00. We are asking $20 for dinner.
A program will follow featuring State Chairman Dwight Pelz and Congressional Candidate Mark Mays, along with others and the Raffle Drawing.
The raffle includes an American Flag flown over the Capitol donated by Sen. Patty Murray, a quilt handmade
by Carolyn McKern and a gift basket donated by Lela Taylor. Raffle tickets are $1 each and are available
at the Campaign Office in Colville or can be purchased at the Dinner.
Please RSVP by Tuesday Oct. 21 and include your choice of dinner. Call Bob at 738-6530 or sign up at the
office. We need to give them a fairly firm number attending and the numbers of each dinner on that day.
Proceeds benefit the Stevens County Democratic Party and will help cover the costs of leasing the Campaign Office.
PLEASE PLAN ON ATTENDING!
DEMOCRATIC PARTY CAMPAIGN OFFICE
The Stevens Co. Democratic Campaign Office has been open since Nov. 4 and is doing very well.
We keep needing to order more signs, materials, etc. since the demand has been high. Our presence has been appreciated.
The office is at 380 S. Main, Colville next to Sun Rental.
We’ve had a great effort by our volunteers, but still have open slots from time to time, especially on Sat. afternoons.
Please come in and sign up to volunteer. We’re trying to keep the office open 10 AM to 6 PM Monday through Saturday,
but would extend those hours, especially now that ballots will be coming out. GOTV calling will start soon.
HOLIDAY DINNER AND VICTORY PARTY
Our annual Stevens County Democratic Party Holiday Dinner is planned for Dec. 13 at the Eagles Lodge, 608 N. Wynn,
Colville at 6:00. Dinner at 7 is a choice of Prime Rib for $20 or Chicken Breast for $15. An entertaining
program will follow. Please come join us to celebrate our campaign victories! The Eagles Lodge puts on a fine meal.
RSVP to Bob at 738-6530 by the end of November, including your choice of dinner.
REORGANIZATION MEETINGS
The Stevens County Democrats will be providing a potluck lunch for the 7th Legislative District
Democratic Party at 12:00 on Sat. Jan. 10 at the American Legion Hall in Chewelah. The 7th LD meeting begins at
1:00 and the main order of business is electing a new slate of officers.
All Democrats are welcome to attend the meetings and join in the discussion, but only Precinct Committee Officers
elected in Aug. 2008 can vote for the officers during the reorganizations. Stevens Co. PCO’s are expected at both
reorganizations. Offices to be elected for the 7th LD are Chair, Vice Chair, State Committeewoman and State Committeeman.
The Treasurers and Secretaries are appointed by the new Chair.
The Stevens County Democrats will hold their meeting following the end of the 7th LD meeting at the same site, the
American Legion in Chewelah. The same rules as stated above apply and the same office positions apply.
Please plan to attend and join in the discussions as well as bringing something for the potluck. The new officers will
continue the meeting after the elections and lay out our plans for 2009.
SOME CAMPAIGN NEWS
Obama: The Obama /Biden campaign has received tremendous interest in our area and the
momentum is building. A Rural Voters for Obama organization has been formed and is helping
with our campaign efforts. Get Out The Vote efforts are now starting for all our candidates
at the Campaign Office in Colville and at evening call centers.
Chris Gregoire: Washington has been rated by Forbes Magazine as the 3rd best state for business under
her watch. She also was named Public Official of the Year by Governing Magazine. We need to
increase our efforts for her re-election.
Mark Mays: Mark has been putting a lot of effort into this campaign for Congress. It’s time we
replaced Cathy McMorris Rogers. Mark is an intelligent and thoughtful person that could serve
us well in Washington D.C. This is an uphill battle and we all need to get the message out.
Lela Taylor: Lela is running a great campaign for County Commissioner. Lela is out there
campaigning every day and has her opponent running scared. Her experience and life-long
presence in Stevens County will make her a fine Commissioner.
Further information on of these and other Democratic Candidates can be found at the
Stevens Co. Democratic Campaign Office at 380 S. Main in Colville. 684-4108.
